4. Texas A&M (+17) vs. Clemson

Dabo Swinney’s Clemson Tigers were far from perfect in their 2019 season-opening win against Georgia Tech. All-World quarterback Trevor Lawrence looked a bit shaky in his two-interception performance against the Yellow Jackets, which is certainly the biggest thing to circle coming out of that matchup. That’s because, if he plays that way against the No. 12 ranked Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday, the Tigers could be in trouble.

Even if Lawrence wasn’t perfect, though, let’s not pretend that Clemson wasn’t dominant in their season-opener. Running back Travis Etienne was unstoppable in the rushing attack, topping 200 yards and scoring three times despite carrying the ball just 12 times on the night. More importantly, the Tigers defense was strong after losing their core defensive line from last year to the NFL.

Of course, Texas A&M looked impressive in their win over Texas State. Kellen Mond continues to build buzz about his ability while the defense was strong and running back Isaiah Spiller did a fantastic job filling in for the departed Trayveon Williams. The Aggies, despite their bear of a schedule, are obviously one of the best teams in the country.

Last season, though, the Aggies were a less experienced team (specifically with Mond) and still put Clemson on the ropes, only losing by two points. So why they’re 17.5-point underdogs in Week 2 is questionable at best. You shouldn’t expect them to win outright, but with the talent of the Aggies and Jimbo Fisher’s familiarity with Swinney and Clemson, they should again keep things close.
