MLB DFS top plays September 4: Can the Rockies roll L.A.?
Top MLB DFS pitchers
Shane Bieber – A frequent flyer in my pitching articles, Shane is back in what is a dream spot for the young star. He has a 3.18 xFIP, 31% K rate, 45.3% GB rate, 43.9% HC on the year. Chicago has a 25% K rate against RHP, 47% GB rate, and 35% HC. His curve is getting massive whiffs this year, at 50%. The GB rates are just amazing on everything, sitting at above 45% on the fastball, slider, and curve. Overall this is my top pitcher on the slate.
Zac Gallen – I would not be surprised if Zac has a year very similar to that of our pitcher above next season. He has been outstanding since his call up, and Miami should be ashamed of themselves for letting him go so easily. On the year, Gallen has a 4.35 xFIP, 28% K rate, 37.7% GB rate, and 38% HC. The Padres, have a 24% K rate, 43% GB rate, and 37.5% HC against RHP.
This spot couldn’t be better for the young stud. Gallen has an amazing .076 ISO, 28% K rate, and only 33% HC against RHH, where he will see at least six hitters. The whiffs are above 20% on each pitch, with the GB rates above 40% on everything in August. It will take a lot for me to move off Gallen, he lets you get more hitters, and will be a very high upside play.
Honorable mention – Trevor Williams
Trevor is never a great play, but he is cheap enough for me to have some interest. With a 20.5% K rate, 42% GB rate, and 31% HC against RHH. The Marlins will have mostly RHH, and I do not think I need to tell everyone how bad that team is. Nobody hits more GB in the league, and nobody hits the ball with less power than them.
