NFL DFS game by game breakdown: Week 1

NFL DFS: Kansas City Chiefs @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Kansas City Chiefs
There’s really never a time where the Chiefs aren’t in play and I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re under-owned against a Jaguars defense. While they ranked 5th in the league in pass DVOA, Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, and Travis Kelce are always in play in tournaments, while Mahomes is always one of the safest quarterbacks on the slate, it just comes down to whether or not you want to spend all the way up at the position.
If you’re going to target only one of them, Kelce would be a massive leverage-play at a position where the masses tend to pay down. On top of that, the Jaguars are a bit more attackable against TEs, ranking 13th in DVOA against the position.
The rushing attack is a bit more exploitable against the Jags, making Damien Williams an intriguing tournament play at a reasonable price. The addition of LeSean McCoy leaves some ambiguity on the distribution of touches, but as we saw in the preseason, Williams only needs one play to pay off his salary.
Cash Plays: Mahomes, Kelce
GPP Plays: Hill, Williams
Jacksonville Jaguars
While I typically am all over the Chiefs on any given slate, it’s the Jaguars that I have more interest in this week. I fully expect them to be playing from behind for the majority of the game, which is way more attractive now that they have a quarterback with an arm in Nick Foles. He’s only $6,500 on FanDuel and $5,300 on DraftKings, making him one of the biggest bargains of the slate on Sunday against a defense ranked in the bottom half of the league in pass DVOA.
If you choose to save salary and roster Foles, it would make complete sense to pair him with Dede Westbrook. The two have demonstrated phenomenal chemistry throughout camp and preseason and he should be in line for a hefty target share with Donte Moncrief gone.
The Chiefs also ranked dead last in the NFL in rush DVOA, making Leonard Fournette an interesting option. The coaching staff has been vocal about wanting to get him more involved in the passing game, making me believe that he could see an every-down role in this one.
Cash Plays: Foles, Westbrook
