No. 6 LSU (-6.5) at No. 9 Texas

People are betting the LSU Tigers HARD. This is as hard as we’ve seen Vegas bet a team. The line for this game started as a pick ’em when the lines opened up in the summer. Then, it jumped to show the Texas Longhorns as three-point underdogs right before the season. Now, it’s close to a touchdown after we saw some major LSU money coming in. This is an insane outcome for the line.

There was nothing wrong with how Texas looked in Week 1. They handily beat LA Tech. Sam Ehlinger is one of the better quarterbacks in the country. They were considered a playoff contender. How is this team getting close to a touchdown at home when they aren’t playing Clemson or Alabama?

These two teams will play a very physical, low-scoring game. The Tigers secondary is otherworldly, which helps against the Longhorns strength on offense. LSU is the better team, but this a team going on the road in unknown territory. There’s a lot of question marks surrounding this game.

This may only be Week 2, but both these teams are playing for their playoff lives. It will be really hard for either team to play for a national championship if they lose this game. Texas will be motivated by the disrespect, and they will come out swinging. Their defense has to make sure they don’t pull a Big 12 and give up all of the points, or they will have no shot. However, we expect this to be a back and forth affair.

Pick: Texas (+6.5)
