FanDuel NFL GPP breakdown: Week 1 main slate
Top FanDuel NFL GPP plays
Russell Wilson – While it is a few days before the start of the main slate, I was very surprised when I saw the projected ownership on Wilson. He is coming in a 3.20% which does seem very low for me, but that might be due to that fact that he is one of the most expensive quarterbacks on the slate. The Bengals have one of the worst defenses in the league, ranked in the bottom five against the pass.
In 2018, Russ was ranked 11th in DYAR at 679, and 10th in DVOA at 11.6%, with a 65.6 QBR. One thing that I really like about him is that he does not turn the ball over. Ranking 5th in the league with only six total interceptions, while scoring 35 touchdowns. Outside of the statistics, the emergence of Chris Carson, and Tyler Lockett, are projected to be great weapons for him. If this ownership holds come Sunday, I will be taking a hard look at Russ.
Jimmy Garoppolo – Unfortunately for Jimmy G he had an injury-shortened season last year, only playing three games. During the short amount of time, he did start for the Niners, he had some great success. He is priced at 7.2k on FanDuel and draws the 26th ranked Buccaneer passing defense. This game actually has the second-highest projected point total on the entire slate, at 50.5. With Winston coming in as one of the chalkiest plays on the day, it makes perfect sense to pivot off him to his opponent, with a 3.20% ownership projection.
Nick Foles – So here is the deal with this play. You are going to just be brave, close your eyes, and say a prayer. Nick is projected as one of the lowest owned plays on the slate, he also gives you a great deal of extra salary to use towards other positions and gets the Kansas City passing defense that was ranked 31st in the league last season. Not to mention this game has a massive 52 point total, good for highest on the slate.
On the rare occasion where Foles has gotten the start, he has always done very well. Sometimes people forget that he won the Eagles a super bowl while Wentz was sitting on the bench. Last year he had a 67.4 QBR, and 1,370 yards despite only playing in seven games. With Fournette finally back and 100% healthy going into this season, and the emergence of potential star Dede Westbrook, this could be a solid year for Nick, and the price is right for opening day.
