NFL DFS Week 1: Cash game breakdown

Jameis Winston – FD $7500 DK $6600

This is probably my favorite cash game quarterback this week. He’s affordable and has connections to other chalky cash game plays on the slate (we’ll touch on those later). A concept that can be difficult for people is separating a good fantasy football player from an actually good football player. Do I think Jameis is good? Not really. Can he be good for us in fantasy football? Absolutely. I’m a big believer in Bruce Arians and what that offense will do. Jameis gives us a safe floor and a reasonable ceiling and most importantly – he’s not bad chalk (on FD more so).

Lamar Jackson – FD $7400 DK $6000

The Ravens are easily one of the biggest favorites on the board and there’s been a lot of talk about Lamar this offseason. He’s very likely to break the single-season rushing record for a quarterback which is incredibly valuable in fantasy. The problem I have with this play is if the Ravens get up like they’re expected to, I can’t imagine they’ll keep running their quarterback. I see him being relatively decently owned for a number of reasons but I’m not going to be playing him in cash.

Jacoby Brissett – FD $6000 DK $4400

I don’t know yet if this is a terrible play or not. There’s merit to the strategy in being able to pay down this much for a quarterback that wasn’t supposed to play when salaries came out. The problem is this game is on the west coast and the Chargers defense is no joke. Brissett wouldn’t take much to pay off this salary and he’s so cheap it allows you to get just about anything you want with the rest of your lineup.
