NASCAR DFS low-tier options

Paul Menard

Menard just makes this cut in my eyes as the 22nd priced driver on DraftKings, just outside the top 20. Menard has kissed the bricks once in his career, and has a top 12 average finish over the last two years at the track.

In addition to his successful past at the track, Menard makes this list because he paced the field in final practice with a speed of 185.079. He didn’t run five or 10 laps, so his quickest lap is the only indication we have of the speed in his car. At this point for fantasy perspectives, you have to hope that he doesn’t just have a fast one-lap qualifying car and that the speed carries over into the race, but I think Menard is a great choice towards the bottom of the driver list to add to your roster.

Bubba Wallace

Bubba being on this list has absolutely nothing to do with prior success at this race track. He has only raced here one time and finished 38th. It has everything to do with what he has shown so far this weekend in practice.

In first practice, the 43 car was the fifth fastest on the chart. In second practice, Bubba was still 16th and had a top 12 10-lap average. Wallace has scored 30+ fantasy points in each of his last two races and is still very cheap on both DraftKings and FanDuel.

The only worry I have is that his practice speed may lead to a high qualifying position that he may be unable to sustain during the race, but for the price, Wallace is looking like a very good flier towards the bottom of the board who could wind up with a top 15 or 20 finish on Sunday.
