Chicago White Sox: Luis Robert

There’s beginning to be a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel for Chicago White Sox fans as they wait out a lengthy rebuild. Yes, the White Sox are on closing in on another 90-loss season, but they made it to the All-Star break only two games below .500. Yoan Moncada has blossomed into a superstar, as has starter Lucas Giolito. Eloy Jimenez’s rookie season has been promising, while Tim Anderson is finally playing like a first-round pick.

Everything is starting to come together for the White Sox, who will have one of the most dynamic young lineups in the American League for the foreseeable future. The next top prospect to add to the mix is outfielder Luis Robert. Chicago paid a hefty price to sign Robert out of Cuba, but he looks to be more than worthy of the hype.

In three seasons since signing with the White Sox, Robert is a .313/.383/.551 hitter with 35 home runs, 163 RBI and 63 stolen bases in 199 games. The 22-year-old has hit .330/.379/.626 with 31 doubles, 10 triples, 32 home runs, 92 RBI and 36 steals in 121 games across three levels. There was zero slowdown for Robert after being promoted to Triple-A, where he has 16 home runs and 39 RBI in 46 games.

Robert has elite hit, run and throw tools and can play center field. If he moves to a corner, it will only increase his value if he is able to put it all together and play right field like Mookie Betts or Jason Heyward. Robert has obvious 30-30 potential and almost limitless upside. Of all the prospects the White Sox have stockpiled through their rebuild, Robert might be the most impressive.
