2020 NFL mock draft: Dolphins tank for Tua Tagovailoa is on

San Francisco 49ers. Tristan Wirfs. 19. player. 42. . Offensive Tackle

The San Francisco 49ers need a big year out of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in 2019 if they want to feel good as to where this franchise is going. On Sunday, Jimmy G led the 49ers to a solid road victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, looking cool in the pocket, and delivery the ball consistently throughout the afternoon.

With Garoppolo continuing to take steps into being a legitimate franchise quarterback, the 49ers need to make sure they do everything they can to protect, as he has shown a propensity to get injured. While Joe Staley is still one of the better tackles in football, he is starting to get up there in age, and Tristan Wirfs from Iowa would be a guy who could come in and learn behind him early on.

Wirfs is a guy who could eventually be a left tackle at the NFL level, and after drafting Mike McGlinchey in the first round in 2018, the team would be set at the bookends for when Staley decides to retire. Jimmy G is the No. 1 asset in San Francisco, and if they cannot protect him, this franchise is in trouble.

Linebacker. Las Vegas Raiders. Isaiah Simmons. 20. player. 28.

The Las Vegas Raiders will hold multiple first round picks for the second year in a row in 2020, and they should look to focus the second of two first rounders on the defensive side of the ball. The Raiders have their issues on both sides of the ball, that is true, and adding a quality defender like Isaiah Simmons from Clemson would be a solid get at No. 20.

The Raiders struck gold with the Clemson Tigers in the 2019 NFL Draft, adding Clelin Ferrell with the No. 4 overall pick, Trayvon Mullen in the second round, and Hunter Renfrow in the fifth. Going back to the Dabo Swinney well will do them good, as those three have already shown themselves to be key parts of the team as rookies.

Las Vegas needs help at linebacker, and Simmons is a guy who can play on the inside, or outside, depending on where you want to scheme him. The Raiders did a good job bringing in talent at linebacker in terms of veterans the past two years, but Simmons would be a long-term add at a spot they have struggled in recent years.
