2020 NFL mock draft: Dolphins tank for Tua Tagovailoa is on
By Brad Weiss
The Jacksonville Jaguars had a tall order on Sunday, as they welcomed in 2018 NFL Most Valuable Player Patrick Mahomes, and the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs figure to be one of the better teams in the league this season, but the Jaguars were expected to do well also, thanks to the addition of quarterback Nick Foles.
Well, by the time the first quarter ended, Foles was basically done for the foreseeable future, breaking his collarbone, and the team had turned to sixth-round pick Gardner Minshew. Minshew played very well, but the Jaguars defense had to answer for Mahomes, and seemed to be fighting each other all game long.
When it comes time for the Jaguars to pick in 2020, there is a good chance it could be in the top-10, especially as team start to gameplan for Minshew. With that pick, they should bring in another weapon in the passing game, and if Laviska Shenault Jr. from Colorado is still available, he is going to be hard to pass up.
The Denver Broncos took on the Oakland Raiders to end the Week 1 slate on Monday night, and boy do they have a lot of work to do. The Raiders dominated on both sides of the ball, and this one was not as close as the 24-16 final score may have indicated.
This is a Broncos team with a new quarterback, and head coach, so there is bound to be some issues in Year No. 1 under Vic Fangio. However, Fangio is one of the better defensive minds in all of football, and you have to think he is going to want to spend his first round pick in 2020 on someone who can help bolster his battered secondary.
Bryce Hall from Virginia is one of the better cornerbacks in this draft class, and he would be a solid addition to a position group that already has an elite talent in Chris Harris Jr. The Broncos were absolutely picked apart by Derek Carr and a Raiders offense without Antonio Brown on Monday night, drawing more emphasis on how much they need to improve in the defensive backfield moving forward.
