2020 NFL mock draft: Dolphins tank for Tua Tagovailoa is on
By Brad Weiss
The Cleveland Browns went into Week 1 of the 2019 NFL season with a ton of hype surrounding them, and for good measure, as they added a ton of talent in the offseason. However, games are not won on paper, and even as the home team against the Tennessee Titans, they just could not get the thing moving in the right direction.
Star quarterback Baker Mayfield threw three interceptions, and the Browns defense, which had a lot of expectations on them, allowed 43 points to the Titans. This is a Browns team that needs to get their act together, and they will get a chance to in primetime in Week 2, as they travel to New York to take on the Jets on Monday Night Football.
One glaring issue with this team is the fact that they need help in the secondary, especially at cornerback. One player who could find himself towards the front of the first round is C.J. Henderson from Florida, who has the talent to start right away at the NFL level, and could certainly slide into the Browns rotation in Year 1.
The Miami Dolphins fleeced the Houston Texans in the Laremy Tunsil trade, and will now hold two picks in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. While Tunsil is a solid player, the Dolphins got a ton for him, and will go into next draft season with more draft capital than most of the rest of the teams in the NFL.
After taking Tua Tagovailoa with the No. 1 overall pick, look for the Dolphins to stay on the offensive side of the ball with their second first rounder, taking Walker Little from Stanford. Little was injured on the last play of the Cardinal’s season opener, but is still slated to be a top offensive lineman in this draft class.
Little did in fact miss the USC game, and all the noise coming out of Stanford is that he will miss at least six weeks. That is a big blow for the Cardinal, but for the Dolphins, he would be ready to go as soon as he is drafted, and they may want to pair their new franchise left tackle with their new franchise quarterback.
