DFS Advice: Quarterbacks to Sit

Kirk Cousins (MIN) @ GB

Even though I am not at all impressed with Green Bay’s defense despite their strong performance against the Bears last Thursday night, I don’t expect Cousins to put up big numbers yet again.

He failed to have a huge day against a Falcons’ defense that ranked dead-last in the NFL last year in passing yards allowed. In fact, Cousins wasn’t able to crack over 100 passing yards in Minnesota’s win over the Falcons.

Most of the Vikings’ success came on the ground with Dalvin Cook. I expect the Vikings to ride the hot hand with Cook as they head on the road to Lambeau Field to face off against their long-time bitter rivals the Packers.

Jared Goff (LAR) vs. NO

Goff certainly didn’t play like the highest-paid quarterback this past Sunday as he struggled to find any kind of rhythm against the Panthers in Week 1. Goff ended up only completing 59.0% of his passes for 186 yards, a touchdown and an interception giving him only 10.4 fantasy points for the day.

While the Saints aren’t the most rock-solid defense in the NFL, I don’t see Goff having a big day against a team wanting revenge from last year’s NFC Championship battle. Play it safe and seek other options for your signal-caller this week.

Jameis Winston (TB) @ CAR

Every year we feel that this will be the season for Jameis Winston to exorcise his demons and play like the number-one overall pick that he should be. Unfortunately, it has yet to happen and we are already entering year-five of his career.

Winston is sitting on the hot seat right now and despite having a bounty of weapons to choose from he hasn’t shown it yet. Granted, it is only one week but it was very telling to see him throw not one, not two, but three interceptions against a 49ers’ secondary that had two picks for the entirety of the 2018 regular season.

Until he proves to me otherwise for an extended period of time, I’m advising to steer clear of Winston.

Honorable Mentions: Marcus Mariota vs. IND, Sam Darnold vs. CLE and Ryan Fitzpatrick vs. NE
