DFS advice: Week 2 start/sit
DFS Advice: Wide Receivers to Start
Kenny Golladay (DET) vs. LAC
Golladay has proven he can be the number-one target in a weak Detroit Lions’ offense. While he only caught four passes, he did receive nine targets from his quarterback Matthew Stafford. As concerning as it is that Golladay’s reception percentage wasn’t very good, he was involved in a majority of Detroit’s offensive snaps in Week 1 against Arizona.
Even though the Chargers had the fifth-best defense in terms of receiving yards allowed to wide-outs in 2018, they did give up 87 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns to T.Y. Hilton. Golladay remains as a solid flex option with plenty of upside to make him ascend to a WR2.
Sammy Watkins (KC) @ OAK
For years we have been waiting for Watkins to breakout, but he just could never live up to the hype. Finally, this may be his time to shine in Kansas City’s explosive offense. With top wideout Tyreek Hill expected to miss somewhere between four to six weeks, Watkins immediately shoots up into a possible WR1 category.
On Sunday against the Jaguars, he was targeted 11 times, completing nine passes for 198 yards and a trio of touchdowns.
We obviously don’t expect that crazy type of production to occur every week with Watkins, but he should get a healthy number of passes thrown to him against a Raiders’ secondary ranked in the top-10 for most fantasy points allowed to receivers in 2018 (25.2/game).
Keenan Allen (LAC) vs. DET
In what is expected to a high-scoring affair between these two offenses, Keenan Allen is a must-start for this week. The knee injury to fellow receiver Mike Williams has caused a significant increase to Allen’s fantasy stock moving forward this week. Allen’s double-digit targets from Philip Rivers in Week 1 could become a weekly occurrence while Williams tries to recover.
Allen is a solid WR2 option with tremendous upside to soar into a WR1 slot very soon if all goes as planned.
Tyler Boyd (CIN) vs. SF
While his Week 1 performance was overshadowed by fellow teammate John Ross, Boyd still had a solid outing against the Seattle Seahawks. He received 11 targets and converted eight of them into 60 yards.
His high volume of passes from quarterback Andy Dalton was encouraging in the wake of star receiver A.J. Green’s absence. The Bengals will be taking on a 49ers secondary that ranked fourth in most fantasy points allowed per game to pass-catchers in 2018.
Don’t let their performance against the Buccaneers fool you from Week 1. Jameis Winston’s poor decision-making played a huge factor in their success last Sunday. Boyd is a firm flex-option heading into this week.
Honorable Mentions: Alshon Jeffery @ ATL, Odell Beckham Jr. @ NYJ
