DraftKings showdown Week 2: Cheap Options

Ronald Jones II – $5,000

In what is a running back by committee approach, Ronald Jones showed the most last weekend against the 49ers. He played on only 31% of snaps which makes him a low ownership cheap play for me this week but does possess game-breaking speed at a position that should give him 8-10 touches.

More from DFS

Breshad Perriman – $4,600

The third receiver for this Bucs team is Breshad Perriman who played on 64% of snaps last week. The former first-round pick has the speed to get behind a defense for a long score which would shatter the slate-like Phillip Dorsett did last week. Hopefully, this cheap option hits again like Dorsett did last week for you readers.

Dare Ogunbowale – $2,400

Are the Panthers favored in this game? Check. Is it likely the Bucs will be playing from behind most of the second half? Check. Does a Bruce Arians offense typically check it down to running backs when running uptempo and trailing? Check. Does Dare Ogunbowale handle the majority of the passing downs work in Tampa Bay? Check. The best value on the slate is Dare Ogunbowale and I am looking to add him as my cheap option when the salary cap gets tight. He led the backfield last weekend with 39% of the snap share and is probably going to play a bigger role with the game script going against the Bucs this week.

DraftKings showdown Week 2: Special Teams / Defensive Flex Options

Panthers Defense – $4,200

The 49ers defense is one of the bottom five defenses in the NFL this season. The 49ers Defense lead fantasy football defenses in points last week versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Panthers defense will have the home crowd in full throat on a prime-time must-win game facing one of the more turnover-prone quarterbacks in the league. This Bucs team is loaded on offense but with a quarterback that is susceptible to throwing a pick-six or two, you will want some shares of the Panthers defense.

Joey Slye – $3,400

The Buccaneers defense is atrocious, this Panthers offense should move the ball up and down the field Thursday night making Slye a play if the Bucs D can hold up in the red-zone forcing field goals.

DraftKings showdown Week 2: Game Script Thoughts

The Panthers trashed the Bucs last season in Charlotte 42-28 and I have no reason to believe that this game in North Carolina will be any different. The line is currently 6.5 out in the desert with a total of 49.5.

I believe the Panthers defense will show up Thursday night giving this Buccaneers team some struggles early. With a double-digit lead at the half, and a heavy workload last week for McCaffrey, I would not be surprised if they got some additional touches for Alex Armah in the 4th quarter.

If this game is close you will need McCaffrey as your Captain or in your Flex to have a chance at the top prize pool.

I expect both offenses to score making a ton of options available at both Captain and Flex, if the game script deviates take advantage of the second half and 4th quarter slates on DraftKings.  Being that I live in Charlotte “No I am not a Panthers fan” I will be there to see this game in person in what I believe will be a Panthers 31-21 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
