20. Cincinnati Reds, 67-78, 4th in the NL Central (ranked 19th last week)

3B Eugenio Suarez has slugged his way into the home run leader board hitting 44 bombs this season, with 15 of them coming after August 1st. He’s currently tied with Christian Yelich and Cody Bellinger for 3rd, but even if Suarez doesn’t hit another home run this season, he has proven to be the best player nobody seems to be talking about.

But Suarez is just one part of many pieces helping turn the Reds into a true contender, along with Sonny Gray reinventing himself and Luis Castillo having a breakout season, the Reds are a team that can make some noise in tightly contested NL Central next season. At the very least, Suarez looks like a franchise player for Cincinnati.

19. Los Angeles Angels, 67-79, 4th in the AL West (ranked 20th last week)

The Angels ended a four-game skid winning two of three against the White Sox, but have lost their last three games and are losers of seven of their last 10 games. Mike Trout hasn’t played since Saturday as he deals with a toe injury, but only Pete Alonso has hit more home runs than Trout.

DH Shohei Ohtani has shown this season he can be a true compliment to Trout in the lineup, hitting 17 homers with a .849 OPS on the season. But Angels will need to add some arms, whether top-end starters or just depth arms because all the injuries this season have exposed Los Angeles lack of pitchers. Getting Ohtani back will help, but adding someone like Gerrit Cole or Stephen Strasburg would be a massive step in finally getting Trout and the Angels back to the playoffs.
