PGA FanDuel Picks – Low Tier Picks: ($9,000 – $10,000)

Tom Lewis – $9,400 – (GPP)

The Tom Lewis story is quite a good one if you did not hear it yet. I knew the gist of it, but to give credit where it is due, I got the full story from RB on the Golflandia podcast. Lewis is a 28-year-old Englishman that has played primarily on the European Tour over his career and has had enough success to be ranked inside the top 100 in the OWGR since last year. He won the Portugal Masters and the Bridgestone Challenge in 2018 and added six more top-tens through the Saudi International in early 2019.

Lewis then cooled off once February hit, and he failed to finish inside the top-20 in any event in that span until the Open Championship in July, where an opening round 75 kept him from a shot at top-ten, and he finished T-11 for his best finish to date in a major championship.

He then faded back into obscurity when he withdrew from his next action at the Czech Masters and followed it with a T-59 at the Scandanavian Invitation, and that is where the story gets interesting. I certainly had no idea, and not many did, but on a whim, Lewis then flies over to the states and plays a Monday qualifier, wins it, and gets a berth to the Korn Ferry Tour Championship despite playing zero KFT events ever.

Lewis then parlayed that opportunity with a dominant performance and went on to win the Korn Ferry Tour Championship, and earn a PGA Tour card for the first time in his career. Not many guys come into this week with that kind of momentum, and I see no reason not to ride it out. Lewis has always been streaky as he proved with his stretch last year, and he is striking the ball as pure as possible as of late.
