DraftKings CFB quarterback picks September 14

Top Tier:

There were many reasons that Texas lost to LSU, but Sam Ehlinger wasn’t one of them. Ehlinger was great against a strong LSU defense. He’ll get to take it easy against Rice this week. The same goes for Jalen Hurts against UCLA.

Lawrence has started slowly, so if paying up for a quarterback, I would use Hurts. UCLA’s defense hasn’t been the problem, especially against the run. Oklahoma is going to have to throw.

Texas isn’t going to have much trouble with Rice. Oklahoma could with UCLA for a half or so. I could honestly see using both if you can find enough value that you are comfortable with. If you have to choose one, go with Hurts. The potential is greater.

Middle Tier:

My thinking in the middle tier is that Hawaii has so many weapons that Washington can’t cover them all. However, Hawaii has been putrid on the mainland for most of the last decade. I’d pay the $100 less and go with Bryce Perkins against a far from good Florida State defense. Beware of a blowout here though.

The Cal defense locked down the Dawgs last weekend. Jacob Eason is going to find the going much easier against Hawaii. This game could be higher scoring that most think. I really like Eason for this price.

Bargain Shoppers:

Dumpster diving at QB is difficult since TCU hasn’t named a starter between K-State transfer Alex Delton and true freshman Max Duggan. Duggan looked much better than Delton against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and nearly won the competition over the summer. If Duggan starts, I’ll use him. Delton? Not so much.

Under no circumstances should you be desperate enough to use Troy transfer Sawyer Smith against a superb Florida front or Tom Stewart against Texas. Take a chance with either TCU quarterback if you are tight on cash.
