Chris Bassitt – Anytime we get a decent pitcher against Texas, I will have some interest. Bassitt has some great recent form, and just put up 11 strikeouts against the Tigers. On the year, he has a 4.66 xFIP, 22.4% K rate, 42.3% GB rate, and 38% HC rate.

He will see plenty of LHH, where his K rate is 25%, but he gives up more FB on that side with an increased ISO. The LHH in that lineup strikeout quite a bit, around 26% of the time, which really boosts his overall upside. This play does come with plenty of risk though, considering how much power those bats have.

Pitch Mix – We will focus on LHH, Chris is throwing the sinker 40% of the time, mixing in the curve, change, and fastball around 17%. The curve has been getting decent whiffs over 35% of the time, the fastball has been around 25%, and the change was getting over 20% as well.

Recently, the change, and curve got crazy whiffs, over 75% which I am sure is an outlier considering how very average his whiffs were all of the year. The GB numbers have been very much inconsistent throughout the year, the curve has been steady at above 50%, while the rest of the pitches have been between 15-45%.

The ISO is very low on everything which is encouraging considering the power of these bats. He is getting very average velocity on his pitches, with a solid seven inches of horizontal movement on the curve. I think that the curve will get plenty of whiffs on these lefties, along with the change, and the price is low enough to get plenty of bats.
