Week 1 NFL MVP Power Rankings
Tom Brady, New England Patriots
Some things never change. At the top of the rankings lies the greatest of all time. The 42-year old six-time Super Bowl champion looked ageless in his twentieth NFL season opener. Brady carved up the Steelers secondary completing 24-of-36 attempts for 341 yards and three touchdowns. He found seven different receivers and was quick to check down when things didn’t materialize downfield. It was vintage Brady who was in complete command of the offense and dictated the game script as the Steelers couldn’t gather any momentum.
As he continues to defy Father Time, Brady is looking to notch his seventh Super Bowl ring and his fourth MVP trophy along the way. He will attempt to do so with arguably his best complement of weapons at his disposal this year.
Aside from head coach Bill Belichick and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, they will incorporate All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown into the fold in Week Two and while continuing to build a rapport with Josh Gordon, Phillip Dorsett and Jakobi Meyers. This win over Pittsburgh should frighten the rest of the league. The Patriots are still here and Tom Brady is still leading the charge.
Next week, New England travels to Miami to take on the Dolphins. Brady should stay right in this spot, this time next week.
