NFL DFS bargain bin: Week 2 Running Backs
Leonard Fournette, JAC at HOU (DraftKings-$6,300/FanDuel- $7,000/FantasyDraft-$12,000/Yahoo-$20)
Fournette may have left quite a few DFS players in the lurch in Week 1, but through no fault of his own. The bruising running back was actually in fine form against the Chiefs, gaining an efficient 66 yards on 13 rushes and adding another 28 on four catches.
While his failure to get into the end zone led to Fournette falling short of expectations, the 17 touches despite negative game script is encouraging and falls right in line with the preseason expectation that this season’s Jaguars will feature a healthy dose of Fournette whenever possible.
The Texans were a tough unit against the run all the way around last season. However, they opened 2019 by allowing 140 yards and a touchdown along with another 76 yards on nine receptions to Saints running backs.
Additionally, Houston surrendered almost nine more rush yards per home game than on the road last season, and Fournette could well see anywhere between 22 and 25 touches if Jacksonville manages to keep better control of the game than they did against KC in Week 1.
LeSean McCoy, KC at OAK (DraftKings- $4,700/FanDuel-$5,800/FantasyDraft-$9,900/Yahoo-$14)
McCoy looked right back in his element while deployed in an Andy Reid-helmed offense in Week 1 versus the Jaguars, compiling an impressive 81 yards on just 10 rushes. His day was highlighted by an impressive 31-yard run that hearkened back to his glory days under Reid in Philadelphia.
McCoy is likely to be kept in a part-time role on the majority of weeks, but his prices across the industry reflect that possibility. And this week, McCoy should actually see a bump in the 20 snaps he played versus the Jaguars due to him being even more acclimated to the offense.
The Raiders managed to take the Broncos out of their ideal offensive game plan in the second half Monday night by forcing them to play catch-up, but they still yielded 99 yards to Denver running backs on just 21 rushes.
That 4.7 yards-per-carry clip hints at Oakland still having some of the same problems against the run that were a constant theme in 2018, when the Raiders surrendered an AFC-high 1,851 rushing yards to RBs. McCoy also brings plenty of pass-catching upside, and with Tyreek Hill (collarbone) now out of action, the veteran running back could see a handful of extra targets as well.
