NFL FanDuel: Week 2 RB Targets – (Early Only)

Saquon Barkley – $9,200 – (Cash)

Barkley flashed his explosiveness with a 59-yard run in last week’s loss to the Cowboys, and what should have been a huge game for the second-year back just did not turn out that way. He finished the game with 120 yards on the ground, but only received 11 carries in a game that wasn’t really out of hand.

Barkley added four catches for 19 yards as well, but I figure him to be much more involved this week. I am sure there was plenty of second-guessing going on as to why Barkley received just 11 carries, and 20+ here against the Bills feels like a lock.

Buffalo was fairly solid at containing LeVeon Bell last week in his Jets debut as he rushed for just 60 yards on 17 carries, but he was targeted nine times in the passing game as well and added six catches for another 32 yards and a touchdown.

I think they have a tougher time with Barkley this week, and the fact that this Giants offense will be without Sterling Shepard should equal a very favorable game script for Saquon. He should be your number one priority in your cash lineup on this early slate this week.

Derrick Henry – $7,500 – (GPP)

My second running back I want to focus on this week is Titans 4th year back and former Alabama star Derrick Henry, who seemed to pick up right where he left off once he was finally given the keys to the full workload late last season.

Henry picked up the bulk of his yards last week on his lone reception, a 75-yard touchdown, but what is drawing me to him this week is the fact that Dion Lewis remains a non-factor.

Henry carried the rock 19 times and while he gained only 84 yards, he added another touchdown. The Titans had little issues with what was expected to be a quality defense in Cleveland, and Henry finished week one with 28.39 FDP.

The Titans looked really good, and this week they will take on the Colts at home. Indianapolis struggled with Austin Ekeler last week in their 30-24 OT loss, so this could very well be another huge week for Henry.

I haven’t seen any ownership projections, but logic is telling me Ekeler and Sony Michel will likely shape up to be cash chalk. Ekeler looked like he can handle the load for the Chargers while Melvin Gordon III continues his holdout, as he found the end zone three times last week. Michel had a disappointing week one, but the game flow of an expected blowout could move a ton of ownership his way.

I will save the Sony play for GPP personally, as you just never know what Bill Belichek will do with his running back rotation.

James White is expected to miss the game due to the birth of his child, but Rex Burkhead is still in the mix, and even Brandon Bolden got a carry last week. Henry looks like the perfect GPP ownership pivot away from Ekeler here as they are the same price and the Chargers should roll again against the Lions.
