2. Bryan Harsin, Boise State head coach

Harsin has kept what Chris Petersen built at Boise State going quite well, with a 54-15 record now into his sixth season as Broncos’ head coach. It’s easy to see Power 5 schools having interest in him again after this season, much as they did Petersen before he finally left to take the job at Washington.

Harsin’s Boise roots are very deep though. He was born in Boise, played quarterback at Boise State and outside of two years as co-offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at Texas (2011-2012) and a one-year stint as head coach at Arkansas State (2013)  his coaching career since 2001 has been spent at his alma mater.

Harsin is under contract at Boise State through the 2022 season, as the school moved to extend him last year and close a clause in his contract that had a buyout which expired after the 2017 season. If a bigger school wants Harsin, it will be a little more expensive.

As could be expected, Harsin came in 70th among FBS head coaches in salary last year (out of 123 listed; $1.65 million). If USC comes with a significant offer (as they really should), loyalty to Boise State aside, it will be hard for him to turn it down.
