Yahoo NFL – Daily Fantasy Football: Week Two Picks
By Raju Byfield
Marquise Brown ($19)
Still not 100 percent due to dealing with a hip injury, Brown once again got a maintenance day on Friday. Brown exploded for 147 yards and two touchdowns in week one on just 14 snaps, 12 plays, and eight pass routes. He was targeted on five of his eight pass routes. When teams stack the box to stop the run that leaves gamebreaker Marquise Brown in single coverage over the top. As a result he had over 130 receiving yards in the first quarter alone. Brown is priced like he will not be able to repeat his monstrous performance in week two. He has a high probability to do just that as he needs the ball in his hands just once to make a house call. He has also proved that he is the number one receiver when he steps onto the field. Hopefully he sees more than 14 snaps in week two, but what we have learned from week one is that the sky actually is the limit for the uber talented rookie wideout.
Sammy Watkins ($27)
Sammy Watkins had a monster week one that saw him finally live up to his immense talent and potential. He put forth the biggest fantasy outing of week one and had a career day with nine receptions, 198 receiving yards and three touchdowns. While some like to build their own narratives it is important to note he was dominating even before Tyreek Hill got hurt and left the game. Watkins found the end zone when covered by Jalen Ramsey at the goal line. This is indeed the Sammy Watkins Bills fans were hoping when he first came into the league from Clemson, and that the Chiefs handed out a perplexing (at the time) contract to in 2018 free agency. Watkins is the reason every top receiver in the league got a raise. He now seems to be in line for one of his own with his contract running out in 2020. Watkins will be operating as the Chiefs number one wideout with Tyreek Hill sidelined and should be in for another massive day against a Raiders secondary that saw injuries to two of its starters in week one.
Tyrell Williams ($19)
Tyrell Williams is going to feast on single coverage until opposing defensive coordinators respect his game and put some respect on his name. Operating as the number one wideout following the Oakland Raiders release of Antonio Brown, Williams saw seven targets, six receptions, 105 receiving yards and a touchdown against the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football. This week the Raiders face off against the Kansas City Chiefs in a matchup that is almost assured to forced the Raiders to air it out. The Chiefs allowed Jacksonville Jaguars deep threats D.J. Chark and Chris Conley to go off for 4-146-1 and 6-97-1 lines respectively. Provided the Chiefs don’t double cover Williams he should have another high volume afternoon with a trip to paydirt. The salaries for this week’s contest came out before Monday Night Football which means Williams and teammate Darren Waller are both chalky plays due to strong perceived salary based value.
