What to do during a QB crisis?

As previously mentioned, during hard times such as these, it’s tricky not to worry when an important player in fantasy goes down with an injury. The key is to not panic and calmly view all of your options before making any hasty decisions. Sometimes we are quick to react in order to stop the bleeding before waiting a couple of extra minutes to scan the playing field.

In terms of the owners that have Drew Brees here’s what I suggest. Place him on IR and go out and check the free agent listings in your league. As for Roethlisbereger owners, cut him loose now and shop for quarterbacks like your Brees counterparts. There are some intriguing free agent quarterback options out there that I suggest you consider as we prepare for the future.

For example, rostered at just about 34% of fantasy leagues is Josh Allen. Over the first two games that he has played in, Allen has completed slightly over 64% of his passes throwing for 507 yards, two touchdowns, and two picks. He also has rushed 17 times for 59 yards and an additional two scores on the ground as well.

Allen is currently averaging about 19.1 fantasy points per game, making him one of the most valuable free agent finds of the week. He’s also got some great matchups awaiting him like the Bengals, Dolphins (twice), Redskins, Steelers, and Jets.

Another quarterback to think about is Jimmy Garoppolo. He’s currently only on about 36.4% of team rosters making him highly available in a good chunk of fantasy leagues at the moment. He may have struggled a bit in Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers going 18 for 27, 166 yards, a touchdown, and an interception, but he made up for it in Week 2 against the Bengals.

In Cincinnati, Jimmy G, went 17 for 25 throwing for nearly 300 yards, a trio of touchdowns and just one pick in San Francisco’s 41-17 win. Much like Josh Allen, Garoppolo too has a lot of attractive matchups ahead of him moving forward this season. He will be facing off against secondaries like Pittsburgh’s, Washington’s, Arizona’s (twice), New Orleans’, and Atlanta’s throughout the course of the year. Keep Garoppolo on your radar when searching for your QB replacement.

Other honorable mentions to quickly consider would be Derek Carr of the Oakland Raiders, Matthew Stafford of the Detroit Lions, and Jacoby Brissett of the Indianapolis Colts.
