Fantasy football: Week 3 waiver wire pickups – WR’s

These wide receivers are carving out a starting role for themselves after their Week 2 performances.

Deebo Samuel, SF

Another 49ers player, Samuel is one of the key pieces to San Francisco’s early success. The rookie wide receiver is currently the 38th in points. He caught five passes for 87 yards and a touchdown in Week 2.

He’s clearly getting more playing time because we didn’t see Dante Pettis‘ name come up once despite being on the field for 49 percent of snaps.

With the issues at running back, I expect Jimmy Garoppolo to throw it a bit more and with Marquise Goodwin, George Kittle and Samuel, he has enough weapons to do it. They face a Steelers defense who just traded for Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Nelson Agholor, PHI

With both Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson out, Agholor stepped up on Sunday night football. Despite dropped a pass late in the game, Agholor caught eight passes for 107 yards and a score.

The status of the other two wide receivers is unknown. The Eagles could head into Week 3 against Detroit with Zach Ertz and Agholor as their top two pass catchers. That may not lead to a win but it could lead to another big game for Agholor.

Terry McLaurin, WSH

After a big Week 1 against the Eagles, McLaurin had another good game last week. He caught five passes on nine targets for 62 yards and a touchdown. Most of his production has come late in games with the Redskins trailing.

That may be the case on Monday night against the Bears. That defense should have no problem stopping the run and pass game. This will give Case Keenum the opportunity to throw it often late in the game, which will help McLaurin. Plus, I don’t trust any other Redskins receiver.
