Akshay Bhatia
There it is! If you’re a golf junkie like myself you’re wondering why it’s taken you to the end of this little article to see our man Akshay on there. For those of you not familiar Bhatia is a 17-year-old phenom out of Wake Forest North Carolina. Making his Tour debut at the 2019 Valspar where he failed to make the cut, but he did indeed show moments of brilliance. Having attended Dustin Johnson’s junior camp, he is highly touted as an up and coming young star.

Bhatia was also part of the Walker Cup team that sealed the victory on foreign soil for the USA for the first time since 2007, a team that featured DJ, Rickie Fowler and Billy Horschel to name a few. During the final day of the Walker Cup on August 9th, Bhatia and teammate Stewart Hagestad secured the point for USA defeating their opponents 3&2. Now look, this kid is a total flyer and a punt play. He is turning pro this week so some nerves might get the best of him or he might thrive on it. What we do know is that he shows great poise and great confidence almost eerily similar to a young Cat that we are all familiar with who has won 15 Majors.
Rhein Gibson
Finally, for the sake of not sounding redundant week to week, I’ve landed on Rhein Gibson. The 33-year-old Web.com / KFT Australian veteran finds himself on the Tour this season after having a nice 2019 with 4 Top ten finishes and a win at the BMW Synnex Pro-Am back in June on the KFT.
Averaging a whopping 321 yards off the tee at 57% accuracy, Rhein will sure be a risky play but might pay off in the end as he has found 70.83% of Green in Regulation coming in at 64th among his peers in 2019. His last 5 events have found him gaining 1.4 Strokes off the tee, and this will be important this week. Don’t be surprised if you see him make the cut and make a run on the weekend.
You wouldn’t be making a mistake having another look at Robby Shelton again this week either, as he surely has the game to compete with the best as he displayed at Old White. I hope these articles help you, be on the lookout for the Power Rankings as well as DK and FD Picks from the rest of the FanSided Team!
Good Luck, Cheers!
