UCL DFS breakdown: Smart six

UCL DFS: Defenders
Joao Cancelo (Manchester City @ Shakhtar Donetsk, $13) – With John Stones picking up an injury over the weekend, Cancelo should slide into the starting lineup. He’s no stranger to UCL games after his years with Juventus.
I think this game comes with a good amount of action, and I’m after Cancelo here for a lot of defensive peripherals. He hasn’t had much of an opportunity to show City what he can do, so I expect extra motivation from him to prove he should be starting.
Red Star Belgrade – All four Red Star defenders are 100% in consideration for me on Wednesday. It’s simple. They’re massive underdogs and they’re cheap. You can see guys like Milos Degenek ($11) who played on the squad last year put up double digit performances in all six UCL group stage games while being similar underdogs.
Milan Gajic ($8) and Nemanja Milunovic ($8) are great minimum price plays to save some money to get your top studs. It’s unlikely they’ll keep a clean sheet, but there should be plenty of defensive peripherals for all four of them.
Those are most of the plays that I think will go overlooked on Wednesday and can help you separate from the masses. Keep in mind that there are a ton of other great plays that are more obvious that I chose not to cover. If you need help finding those chalkier guys in good match-ups, find me on Twitter (@vdray5).
