Raw Women’s Championship Match
Becky Lynch (c) vs. Sasha Banks
Easily the best women’s division match of the night and one of the better overall matches on the Clash of Champions card, the Raw Women’s Championship bout featuring Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks was a lot of fun. This probably had the best overall build coming into the pay-per-view and the intensity that’s surrounded this rivalry coming in spilled over into the match itself, which gave it the big-match feel.
Things got going quickly with some real slaps, and it all just went from there. Both women looked pretty sharp and each took their turn getting some offense in. There were some very good nearfalls and submission teases throughout. It was very believable for a minute that Banks was going to win the title but it ultimately never got to that point.
The steel chair then got involved and things got crazy. Becky swung on The Boss, who ducked out of the way, and we got a ref bump. That must’ve been one crazy hit to the arm to knock him out for 10 minutes. The action spilled into the crowd and up into the aisles of the Spectrum Center and Becky slapped on a crazy Dis-arm-her through the railing, the first of two that looked extremely painful, the next being the one through the chair when they got back to the ring.
Lynch was then pulled off by officials and was officially disqualified once the ref came to, obviously meaning that she is still the Raw Women’s Champion. This was a fun match with a lot of intensity.
What’s next: With that finish, we know this isn’t anywhere near being over. They certainly weren’t going to have Sasha lose in her first big match on pay-per-view in months and they also don’t want to take the belt off of Becky at the moment so this program will continue and we’ll get a Hell in a Cell match out of it, which should be fantastic.
