WWE Clash of Champions 2019 review: Highlights, takeaways and projections

No Disqualification Match
Roman Reigns vs. Erick Rowan
Well, we knew the No Disqualification stipulation was added for a reason but no one thought we’d see the interference that we ended up with.
We knew that this would be a heavy-hitting matchup, especially given the circumstances of the storyline, and Roman Reigns and Erick Rowan gave us just that. This bout was just fun. Roman didn’t even let Rowan get to the ring and attacked him on the ramp to get things moving and the match took off from there. We got kendo sticks and the metal steps and garbage cans as weapons early on and the announce tables came into play later, as Rowan hit Reigns with a vicious powerbomb, the first of two times that The Big Dog went through a table, the other coming later when the two found themselves battling all over the Spectrum Center.
Reigns would fight back, using the camera jib to smash Rowan, much like what had happened to him the previous week, and things looked as if they were about to finish up as the two headed back to the ring but then we got the interference — not from Daniel Bryan like we were all expecting but from Luke Harper. So much for sitting out the rest of his contract.
The duo formerly known as The Bludgeon Brothers decimated Reigns, and Rowan finished things off with the Iron Claw Slam. It’s not often we see get Reigns taken out like that, much less take a pin, but that’s what we got on Sunday night. Very interesting twist to this story.
What’s next: Well, it looks like Roman is going to have to find someone to help him take on this duo of Harper and Rowan. But who? Daniel Bryan is still involved in all of this and took a beating himself from Rowan so does he come to Roman’s side? That would seem strange with his character right now but maybe he fakes an alliance until we get to the match and he turns on Reigns and is revealed as the mastermind behind all of this, which is what a lot of people are still expecting. So it will be interesting to see where this story goes. Great booking on this, after the storyline was botched a month ago.
