2020 NFL mock draft: Bengals land Justin Herbert
By Brad Weiss
The Detroit Lions pulled off an improbable victory in front of the home fans on Sunday, coming all the way back to beat the Los Angeles Chargers, who are a favorite to go deep in a loaded AFC. The Lions just never gave up, and after blowing the lead against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1, it was nice to see them come back and get one in Week 2.
As they look to the future, there is a lot to like about this team, but it all comes down to whether or not Matthew Stafford can come up with the big plays with the game on the line. The team is trying to build around him, and on the other side of the ball, they should invest their first round pick on one of the better safeties in college football.
Head coach Matt Patricia coached a good one in Devin McCourty in New England, and McKinney could have that kind impact in Detroit. He is not the biggest, or fastest safety prospect in this draft class, but he is an extremely intelligent football player, and fits the mold of what Patricia likes to see from his players.
The Green Bay Packers are off to a 2-0 start in head coach Matt LaFleur’s first season at the helm, which is very important when it comes to his relationship with Aaron Rodgers. The two appeared to be in a heated discussion during the team’s victory over the Vikings on Sunday, but afterward, all seemed fine.
If the Packers are going to reach their full potential on offense, they need more weapons in the passing game, and that is where they should focus their 2020 first round pick. Tee Higgins is one of the more dynamic wide receivers in all of college football, and comes from a winning program, as he has spent his time in college playing at Clemson under Dabo Swinney.
Green Bay has the talent to take the NFC North this season, and that win against the Vikings this past weekend could prove to be huge. Davante Adams is one of the premier wide receivers in football, and adding Higgings could give this Packers offense a duo the fan base has not seen in a while.
