DFS advice – Week 3 RB’s to start

Matt Breida (SF) vs. PIT

Similarly to last season, Breida is off to another hot start to the year as he is currently averaging 5.9 yards per carry in 2019. Now with Tevin Coleman expected to miss multiple games with a high ankle sprain, Breida is San Francisco’s favorite to take on the running workload. San Francisco will be hosting a Pittsburgh team still reeling from the fact that they lost their starting quarterback this past week. The Steelers are also struggling defensively as they have surrendered the ninth-most rushing yards per game to running backs this year (110/game). Breida looks poised to have another effective afternoon in Week 3. He’s absolutely a must start candidate.

Carlos Hyde (HOU) @ LAC

Carlos Hyde is an interesting start for this week as the Texans head to the west coast to take on the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. While he did struggle against a stout Jacksonville Jaguars’ defense in Week 2, he will be rewarded with a Chargers defense having trouble finding their identity this season. The loss of Derwin James has left Los Angeles frantically searching for answers. Nearly averaging 6.0 yards per carry, it is the perfect opportunity for Hyde to take advantage of. He’s definitely a solid Flex option with enough upside to vault him into an RB2 if it plays out well.

Aaron Jones (GB) vs. DEN

I think a lot of us were writing Aaron Jones off a little early after he had a forgettable showing in Week 1 against the Chicago Bears. Jones quickly won back the hearts of his supporters with a monster day against the Vikings in Week 2. He rushed the ball 23 times for 116 yards and a score in Green Bay’s win over Minnesota Sunday. Jones also added on with an additional four catches for 34 yards as well. The Broncos are an average defense in terms of yards allowed to running backs, but they are tied in first with several other teams for the most rushing touchdowns allowed to runners this year. Yes, Denver has been able to shut backs down in the receiving department, but Jones can be just as effective purely on the ground if need be.

Honorable Mentions: Marlon Mack vs. ATL, Frank Gore vs. CIN, & David Montgomery @ WSH
