MLB DFS – Building our bats

With a dual ace approach tonight it will mean we say goodbye to the high-priced Twins bats and their slate leading 6.3 IRT and with a smaller slate, it also means we have a smaller player pool with fewer #FreeSquare punt plays which will make finding a cheap stack a bit more difficult this evening.

More from DFS

The Baltimore Orioles are an interesting power heavy cheap stack we can target tonight against Toronto LHP Anthony Kay, who will be making his third Major League start. After a dazzling debut where he struck out 8 Rays in 5.2 IP, he was smacked around by the Yankees in his last start, surrendering 7 hits and 5 ER in only 4 innings of work.

The Orioles projected line-up may not have the names we normally rush to click on in DFS, but the reality is that their projected lineup has 4 batters with .200+ ISO marks against LHP both this season and since the start of 2018 with Mark Trumbo, Trey Mancini, Renato Nunez and Anthony Santander.

This Jays/O’s series has been all about offense thus far with 13 and 22 runs scored in the first two games and while Kay has a solid minor league pedigree from the Mets organization, the left-hander is not the kind of elite K prospect that I am going to avoid just 3 starts into his big league career.

I also think that in the context of this slate, most will look to pair Clevinger with a lower SP2 and if you look at the choices, I think many will see that 8 K outing against the Rays and roll the dice with Kay today against a Baltimore offense DFS players have picked on all year which gives us some serious leverage if Kay gains traction as the SP2 of choice.

Best of luck tonight – make sure you watch the lineups as they come out and remember that lock is 30 minutes early this evening!
