16. Arizona Diamondbacks, 78-75, 2nd in the NL West (ranked 13th last week)

The Diamondbacks are tailspinning out of the postseason picture at the moment, losing eight of their last 10 games while falling to 5.5 games back from the final NL Wild Card spot. Losing 12-6 Tuesday night against the Marlins felt like the beginning of the end for the Diamondbacks.

Ketel Marte and Eduardo Escobar have both been great all season long, but the rest of the lineup hasn’t amounted to much down the stretch. Arizona has a promising player in Marte, but with him getting an MRI done on his back due to stiffness it may just close the book on the postseason in the desert.

15. Philadelphia Phillies, 78-72, tied for 3rd in the NL East (ranked 14th last week)

The Phillies are running out of time to close the gap in the either the NL East or one of the Wild Card spots. Philadelphia did steal a game from Atlanta Tuesday night, putting them four games behind the Cubs and Brewers for the final Wild Card spot.

It also doesn’t help that Bryce Harper has been slumping all of September, hitting .205 and striking out 13 times this month. Feels like the Phillies season is starting to slip away, but a series win over the Braves could get them back within striking distance to a postseason spot.
