DraftKings NFL GPP pivots: GPP strategy

Each week I am going to give you a few tips on roster construction. Each slate is different, but there are always ways to make your builds different while still playing optimal plays. You can find my GPP strategy guide here if you want to read more about correlation, players to target, etc…

This week is looking the week of the cheap receiver as there are a number of sub-6k receivers who are going to be incredibly popular options on DraftKings.

The chalk build appears to be paying up at running back and down at wide receiver which also could be a trend that we see continue this season as there are just so few running backs who are getting the volume necessary to hit their ceilings.

That’s going to mean some higher-priced wide-outs and cheaper backs both will be massively under-owned.

Today I want to discuss pivoting from a popular player to a less popular player on the same team. Last week, a lot of people played Patrick Mahomes with Travis Kelce and/or Sammy Watkins, but how many people stacked him with Demarcus Robinson or Mecole Hardman?

Robinson had a massive game at low ownership, while Watkins was a bust as players chased his big week one performance.

We are all guilty of playing the most common stack from a team. But in GPPs, it pays to think outside the box and consider all the possible outcomes. Let’s look at the Dallas Cowboys this week for example.

While most people are going to be riding Zeke and the Dallas defense in a game that is projected to be a blowout, I am going to be stacking Dak Prescott with Zeke and one of his receivers with the hope that Miami can hang in that game long enough for Dallas to want to stay aggressive on offense and call passing plays.

A unique Dallas stack of Dak-Amari CooperDevin Smith or Dak-Zeke-Witten might be one way to get access to a bunch of touchdowns with the Cowboys implied team total.
