EPL DFS – Goalkeepers

Ederson (Watford @ Manchester City, $15) – I haven’t written Ederson up as much this year as I did last year, partly because City’s defense is injured and suspect.  However, they have no business conceding to Watford who have only scored three goals in five games and whose strikers are very out of form.  City will control so much of the possession in this game limiting Watford’s opportunities.  Ederson might not make any saves at all, but he looks great for both bonuses.

More from DFS

Jordan Pickford (Sheffield United @ Everton, $13) – Pickford disappointed me last weekend, but maybe that wasn’t the best play on the road.  This week, Pickford gets a nice home matchup against a team in Sheffield that isn’t known for their scoring.  They do have three goals in only two road games this year.  Two of them came against Chelsea’s lowly defense and the other was against Bournemouth.  I think Everton are able to bounce back from last weekend’s loss with a shutout win this week.  That would mean a big game from Pickford.  However, there’s always risk with Pickford that if Everton concedes, he won’t make enough saves to provide much value.

Martin Dubravka (Brighton @ Newcastle, $9) – This play seemed risky at first glance, but the more I went deeper, the more I liked it.  Newcastle has only given up two goals in two home games (one to Arsenal, one Watford).  Brighton is not a great attacking team and some of their best attackers aren’t playing well or are hurt.  I know it’s getting a little late in the season to be using last year’s data, but Brighton only scored an average of 0.84 goals per game on the road last season.  Dubravka is averaging over three saves per game right now, so even if he allows one, he can still have an okay game especially with a win bonus.  Dubravka could have a massive fantasy day if Newcastle can shut the door on Brighton’s weak attack.

I don’t mind the Mat Ryan ($10) play on the other end either.  Newcastle struggles to score and Brighton is favored.  However, using a Brighton GK on the road scares me.
