NFL DFS Week 3: Cash game breakdown

Lamar Jackson – FD $8500 DK $7000

I’m typically one to follow a very standard cash game strategy of paying down at quarterback and defense (and tight end). The last two weeks have really bucked that trend and we’re being pushed towards paying up at quarterback.

I talked some trash about Lamar before just like everyone else who is taking a victory lap about how great he is. The truth is though I was really annoyed with my Steelers didn’t draft him and now he’s making us look really stupid.

The guy is just incredible. He comes out week 1 against the JV Dolphins and throws for 5 touchdowns. Then, last week against the Cardinals he runs for 120 yards. Are you kidding me?! I think he’s going to be chalky against the Chiefs this week but he may struggle at Arrowhead.

Patrick Mahomes – FD $9200 DK $7600

The guy is just mindbogglingly good. Seriously…there is a gif going around on Twitter of him falling backwards and flicking the ball like 70 yards through the air for an easy touchdown. It’s disgusting. He actually didn’t have that great of a game outside of the 2nd quarter against the Raiders where he just exploded for four touchdowns paying off his value.

I really don’t know if there is a truly safer play on the board at home but you have to respect the Ravens defense at least to some extent.

The only reason you can really justify not playing Mahomes is cost and what it does to the rest of your lineup when you pay that much at quarterback. Think about it – if all things were equal you would play him every single week regardless of match-up.

Dak Prescott – FD $8400 DK $6500

This play is a bit friendlier on DraftKings this week but is definitely viable on either site. Dak has looked unbelievable in this new Kellen Moore offense.

As a random aside it is super weird when you start being older than coordinators and coaches in the NFL. Anyways…Dak has already looked great in the passing game and now he gets the JV Dolphins who just gave away Minkah Fitzpatrick. Sign me up please. Not much more analysis needed.
