NFL DFS bargain bin: Week 3 Tight Ends
Will Dissly, SEA vs. NO (DraftKings-$3,400/FanDuel-$5,400/FantasyDraft-$7,000/Yahoo-$14)
Dissly’s two-touchdown surge in Week 2 may have caught some by surprise, but not those who’d watched him flash similar promise last season before seeing a Week 4 knee injury cut short his rookie campaign.
Dissly now has four touchdown receptions on just 14 career catches, clearly indicating Russell Wilson already trusts him plenty in the red zone. Granted, the Saints have been effective versus tight ends over their first two games, surrendering a modest six receptions and 59 yards to the position.
However, it’s worth noting their Week 1 opponents, the Texans, don’t emphasize the position in their offense, while their Week 2 foes, the Rams, lost Tyler Higbee to a chest injury during the contest after he’d already secured a couple of receptions fairly early on.
Dissly played a solid 47 snaps in Week 2 after being limited to 27 snaps during a Week 1 win against the Bengals due to a knee issue, so Seattle looks set to give him plenty of run as the top option at the position.
Gerald Everett, LAR at CLE (DraftKings-$3,200/FanDuel-$4,500/FantasyDraft-$5,200/Yahoo-$10)
The Rams had encouragingly targeted Everett’s fellow tight end Tyler Higbee on eight occasions through two games, but the latter will sit in Week 3 due to a chest injury. That brings Everett into play as a proverbial “free square” across all four sites while serving as the unquestioned top option at the position and facing an injury-riddled Browns’ secondary.
Cleveland has already ruled out stud safety Damarious Randall (concussion) in Week 3, while position mate Morgan Burnett (quadriceps) carries a questionable tag (as do corners Greedy Williams and Denzel Ward).
That could certainly help free up Everett for a couple of the down-the-seam shots that he’s proven adept at over his first two seasons (eight catches of 20 more more yards, including three over 40, over his first 49 career receptions coming into 2019).
The Browns have already allowed a pair of touchdown receptions to tight ends this season as well, with the Titans’ Delanie Walker responsible for both in the opener. That’s particularly relevant considering the similarities in athleticism between the veteran and Everett, whose physical profile is a near-match for the much older (and at this point, slower) Walker.
