3. Watford get point at Manchester City

Saturday sees a repeat of last season’s FA Cup final as Watford travel to the Etihad to face Manchester City. To say Watford were humbled on that day would be generous as they were absolutely annihilated 6-0 by a rampant Manchester City.

To lose a major final like that is not only embarrassing but also devastating for fans of a club like Watford where finals don’t come around too often. That should give the Hornets a bit of bite coming into this weekend’s game.

Manchester City have something to prove themselves after their own embarrassing defeat at Norwich last weekend. Norwich were worthy winners in that match but Pep Guardiola must expect better from his team – especially considering the squad he has at his disposal.

Guardiola’s side got a little reprieve in midweek when they comfortably saw off Shakhtar Donestk in the Champions League. They need to get back to their wininng ways in the league though in order to keep pace with Liverpool.

That means we’ll have two sides with a point to prove this weekend which should make for an entertaining match. Watford looked down and out against Arsenal last weekend but they fought back to claim a point. This kind of result can give players more belief than a win as it shows the games aren’t always out of reach even if they concede first.

Manchester City away is a much different prospect than Arsenal at home but if they can show a similar kind of fight then they can maybe get something out of this. Watford will take the lead but City will fight back with two goals of their own. The three points will look to be staying with Guardiola’s side until the Hornets strike late on to claim a very good point away from home.
