Fantasy football picks: Week 3  SNF Browns vs. Rams

Game theory is something that I have had to really work on going into this season, and it really takes your game to the next level once you start to get the hang of it. With single-game slates, game theory is a little bit different due to the 1.5x MVP point slot. Usually, this spot is used for the most popular play on the slate, which is normally a quarterback. However, I will tell you a little secret, very rarely do chalk MVP quarterbacks win you a single game tourney.

We will continue to cover game theory all season long in the single game slate articles. I really enjoy getting weird with these slates, because I know that eventually my Cooper Kupp play at the MVP spot will pay off big time.

Speaking of which, play Kupp in the bonus position. I’m not saying to do this in cash games, but in GPP’s I think the upside is there, the ownership will be low on him in the bonus, and the price is low. It is a low-risk high reward situation. Of course, in cash games, I recommend playing running back, preferably Chubb. The big game is coming, and I just don’t love either quarterback. Sure Goff is a solid MVP for cash games, he will likely be popular there so you are safe if he busts. Chubb and Gurley offer more upside, and that’s what you should be looking for with that bonus position. Stack up the high priced guys, then completely punt the remaining one or two spots. This is a common single game approach, and I have plenty of options to do so tonight.
