Heisman rankings Week 4: Justin Fields posts video-game numbers
8. Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama
While Henry Ruggs continues to make the big, explosive plays in the Alabama offense, Jerry Jeudy might be the most consistently dangerous wide receiver in college football playing for one of the elite teams in the country. He’s been a major factor, even if he’s not breaking off the massive plays that his teammate is at this point.
In the win over Southern Miss, Jeudy posted a cool day with six catches for 96 yards and two touchdowns while Alabama made light work of the matchup. That now gives the future first-round pick 30 catches for 406 yards and six touchdowns on the year while not having to play full games yet. If he maintains that against SEC competition, he’ll be heavily in the Heisman mix.
7. Sam Ehlinger, QB, Texas
The Texas Longhorns got a definite scare with a late rally from Oklahoma State in Week 4 but ultimately survived to still have just one loss on the ledger to this point in the season. And quarterback Sam Ehlinger continues to make big plays for this team and put up highly respectable numbers that can’t be ignored in this conversation.
In the win over the Cowboys, Ehlinger went 20-of-28 for 286 yards, four touchdowns and one interception but also had a big rushing day, taking 10 total carries for 70 yards in the contest. With over 1,200 yards passing, 15 passing scores and a rushing touchdown as well, Ehlinger is the lifeblood of the Longhorns offense and should keep up his success against Big 12 defenses.
