Fantasy Football Advice: Injury Info and Impact

The biggest injury that occurred last week from a fantasy football perspective was the high-ankle sprain that Giants star Saquon Barkley suffered against Tampa Bay. Barkley is expected to miss anywhere from 4-8 weeks and the Giants will have to lean on backups Wayne Gallman and Elijhaa Penny in the run game. They’re also likely to bring in another back to compete for touches.

Devin Singletary could return this week for the Bills, which means Frank Gore could turn back into a pumpkin. Gore has out-carried Singletary 44-10 so far this season but Gore has only a paltry 3.7 yards per carry average while Singletary has been electric with 12.7 yards per carry.

Cam Newton has already been ruled out for week 4, which means another week for Kyle Allen as the Carolina starter. Allen lit up the box score with 4 passing touchdowns in his season debut and still fairly cheap across the industry.

Ty Hilton re-aggravated his quad injury in the Colts week three win over Atlanta. He looks like he could be dicey this week and the Colts really don’t have any single receiver that stands out as the next man up. Brissett is likely to spread the ball around and their offense could be more run-heavy this week against Oakland.

The Chiefs backfield situation is going to need to be monitored closely again this week. Damien Williams is in jeopardy of missing another game while LeSean McCoy left Sunday’s game early with an injury. If both were to miss this Sunday’s game with Detroit, rookie Darwin Thompson and Darrel Williams would become very attractive plays for this high-powered Chiefs offense.

The Patriots are a little banged up going into a big game with the Buffalo Bills. Julian Edelman is questionable with a chest injury.  Jakobi Meyers would be the next man up for the Pats.

Alshon Jeffrey and DeSean Jackson are both still questionable for the Eagles game on Thursday night. The short week isn’t helping the Eagles situation either. Look for Nelson Agholor and Zach Ertz to continue to be the primary options in the passing game if either Jackson or Jeffrey miss Thursday’s game.

Rashaad Penny is likely to make his return to the Seattle backfield rotation this week. With Chris Carson being benched last week after his third lost fumble in three games, Penny could be in a position to grab the majority of touches for the Seahawks in a plus matchup against the Cardinals.
