2020 NFL mock draft: Saints take Joe Burrow
By Brad Weiss
The Miami Dolphins third and final pick in the first round will come via the Houston Texans, who went on the road and beat a very good Los Angeles Chargers team this past weekend. For the Texans, they have one priority heading into next year, and that is protecting Deshaun Watson, who has been blasted on a weekly basis this season.
With the Texans pick, which could be late in the first round, the Dolphins need to do something to bolster their secondary. Sure, they have an elite safety in Xavien Howard, but trading away Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Pittsburgh Steelers has left them thin at cornerback, where they could look to target in round one in 2020.
C.J. Henderson from Florida is rated by nearly every publication as a first round talent, and many believe he could be the best overall cornerback in this draft class. Adding him to the secondary instantly replaces the talented Fitzpatrick, and for the Dolphins, they need to stack as much elite talent as they can in the next two drafts.
The Minnesota Vikings throttled the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, beating Derek Carr and company pretty comfortably by the score of 34-14. One player who was not comfortable all game long was quarterback Kirk Cousins, who was consistently under pressure due to the fact the Vikings are really lacking at offensive tackle.
Heading into the 2020 NFL Draft, this has to be on the Vikings front office’s mind, as it is one of the few weak spots on their roster. Luckily for the Vikings brass, the 2020 NFL Draft class is loaded with talent at the position, and first round talent at that, so they could get an answer on Day 1 next April.
Calvin Throckmorton from Oregon has been protecting Justin Herbert’s blindside this season, and he has done a tremendous job at doing so. He would be a perfect addition to this Vikings offensive line, giving them a day one starter, as they continue to build in front of Cousins, and star running back Dalvin Cook.
