2020 NFL mock draft: Saints take Joe Burrow
By Brad Weiss
One of the more surprising stories of the 2019 NFL season has been the play of the Buffalo Bills, who have gotten out to a fast 3-0 start through the first three weeks of the season. Quarterback Josh Allen is starting to deliver the ball with improved accuracy, and their defense has been one of the best in the league.
When all is said and done, this could be a playoff team this season, as they have taken on the personality of their head coach, Sean McDermott. When it comes to the offense, they are eventually going to need more weapons in the passing game, and a guy like Clemson’s Tee Higgins could be that true WR1 that Allen needs to continue his development.
In Week 4, we will get a much better view of what the Bills are as a team, as they will play host to fellow undefeated AFC East team, the New England Patriots. If the Bills can somehow come away with the victory in front of the home fans, they will vault into sole possession of first place in the division, and you can believe Bills Mafia will be losing their minds in the parking lot.
The San Francisco 49ers were relying on Jimmy Garoppolo to come in and fix the franchise when they made a trade for him mid-season back in 2017. After an injury robbed Jimmy G of most of the 2018 campaign, he has come on strong in year No. 2 as the full-time starter for San Francisco, leading them to a 3-0 start to open the campaign.
Garoppolo is a fantastic young quarterback, and will need to stay healthy if this 49ers team is going to do anything of significance this season. On defense, the team has been better than advertised, but they are getting long in the tooth in the secondary, and will need to bring in some reinforcements this offseason.
In the 2020 NFL Draft, they should look to what should be a strong cornerback class, as a guy like Bryce Hall from Virginia could be available this late in round one. Hall is a guy who can come in and eventually take over for Richard Sherman as the top cornerback on this roster, while learning from the veteran early on in his career.
