2020 NFL mock draft: Saints take Joe Burrow
By Brad Weiss
The Dallas Cowboys may be the best team in the NFC this season, thanks to the strong play of quarterback Dak Prescott, and a defense that has been better than advertised. Running back Ezekiel Elliott hasn’t even really gotten going yet after missing the entire preseason, and once he gets his legs underneath him, they should run away with the NFC East.
On defense, the Cowboys have invested in some young talent over the years, including at linebacker, where Leighton Vander Esch has been all of that and more. Taco Charlton was drafted bring stability to the edge rusher spot, but he is no longer with the team, as he was released two weeks ago.
The Charlton Era in Dallas is over, so it would be wise for them to bring in a talented edge rusher via the 2020 NFL Draft, and this draft class is loaded with them. Mustafa Johnson is just that, and on a Colorado defense that has been very good this season, he has blossomed into a legitimate first round talent.
The New England Patriots became the second NFL team to release All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown this month, after menacing text messages to an accuser proved to be the final straw. For the Patriots, losing Brown is really not a big deal, as they already have a Super Bowl caliber roster, and appear to only be getting better each week.
Looking at the roster, the defense has been much better than advertised, but they should still focus on that side of the ball in the 2020 NFL Draft. Derrick Brown could be the best defensive tackle in this draft class, and while some mocks have him going higher, the Patriots getting him at No. 32 overall would be an absolute steal for a team with a defensive genius as their head coach in Bill Belichick.
So there it is, our latest 2020 NFL mock draft. The Patriots hold firm at No. 32, which means they are still our pick to win the Super Bowl, but anything can happen over the next five months. Brady looks like an MVP candidate once again, and now that the AB drama is behind them, it is full steam ahead.
