Early DraftKings college football running back picks September 28

Top Tier:

Jonathan Taylor just ran for 203 yards and two touchdowns on Michigan. He is matchup proof. Use him whenever you have the cash.

Despite the struggles of the Boston College offense, AJ Dillon is fifth in the nation in rushing yards. Dillon will continue to get tons of carries. Wake’s run defense has been better than the pass defense so far, but the sheer volume alone makes Dillon an intriguing option if you have the extra money.

I like Travis Etienne, but he has not had more than 16 carries in a game yet this year. That trend wont change against North Carolina. The same is true of Najee Harris. He has yet to carry more than 14 times this year. Until Clemson and Alabama’s schedules get harder, most of their players will have little value in the DraftKings college football games.

Middle Tier:

The lone bright spot for the TCU offense has been running back Darius Anderson. Anderson has four touchdowns in the last two games to go with 340 rushing yards and 45 receiving yards. Due to the ineffectiveness of both quarterbacks, Anderson is the only player for TCU that I would use. This is a tougher matchup against Kansas, but I still think Anderson turns in a quality game.

The drop off at running back is steep thanks to tough matchups in the middle. Jordan Mason has a tough matchup as well, but he has scored in every game this year. If Mason could even pull off 14.2 DraftKings points against Clemson, he’s pretty safe against Temple as well.

Bargain Shoppers:

We have a whole slew of timeshares in backfields right now. Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Northwestern, Virginia, Kansas, and even Temple all have timeshares now. Oklahoma’s quarterback is leading the team in rushing so you can cross them off. The A&M splits were even against Auburn. Northwestern, Kansas, and Virginia have terrible matchups. That leaves Temple.

It’s a good matchup for the Owls, but who is going to get the carries? Re’Mahn Davis has a lot more explosiveness than Jager Gardner. If using one, go with Davis. I don’t have an issue with using both either.
