Fantasy football lineup advice: Week 4 BOOM or BUST!
Fantasy football lineup advice – Quarterback
BOOM:
Kyler Murray, ARI vs. SEA
I really, really, wanted to pick Philip Rivers against the Dolphins for my “BOOM” this week, but that’d just be too easy. Instead, let’s go with no. 1 overall pick Kyler Murray. The Oklahoma alum has looked to have made a seamless transition into the NFL running a similar offense to what he ran in college, throwing for over 300 yards in two of his first three games. He struggled to an extent last week as he ran for his life from Carolina’s pass-rush (sacked eight times), but rediscovered his running ability, rushing for 69 yards.
Murray’s o-line should be able to buy him more time against the Seahawks (just six sacks in three games). Seattle’s secondary also remains a weak point, ranking in the bottom-half of the league thus far in fantasy points allowed to opposing QBs (and that’s going against Andy Dalton, Mason Rudolph, and Teddy Bridgewater). Murray, who’s thrown an average of 45.6 pass-attempts per game, should thrive off this kind of volume and expose this Seattle defense in what could be his first true breakout performance.
BUST:
Josh Allen, BUF vs. NE
The second-year signal-caller out of Wyoming has been a solid starting option through the first three weeks, averaging 18.8 fantasy points per game. He’s led the Bills to their first 3-0 start since 2011, and while their opponents (NYJ, NYG, CIN) have admittedly been inadequate, Allen has carried a high floor with him due to his rushing ability (despite turning the ball over five times already).
In Week 4, his competition becomes much stiffer as Buffalo is set to host Tom Brady and the Patriots. So far this season, England’s D has been superb, having allowed just 560 combined passing yards through three games. Additionally, they’ve yet to surrender a single touchdown through the air and have picked opposing QBs off six times already. If you want a starting QB with a serviceable matchup, you’ll want to look elsewhere this week.
Sleeper:
Kyle Allen, CAR @ HOU
It turns out the Panthers didn’t need Cam Newton after all (at least for one game). Allen played near-perfect football in his 2019 debut, connecting on over 71 percent of his throws for four touchdowns and 24.3 fantasy points. Now, this game did come against a porous Cardinals’ defense, but Allen draws another great matchup against the Texans (sixth-most FPPG allowed to QBs) in Week 4. With so many injuries at the position early in the year, Allen is a fine streaming candidate.
