MLB DFS – Building our bats

The Cleveland Indians bats are one of the few spots tonight where we get the mixture of a high Vegas IRT (over 5) and a team with everything to play for as only they and the Oakland A’s (against King Felix) are above 5 runs as of this writing.

More from DFS

The Indians will take on RHP Dylan Cease and the terrible White Sox bullpen and going all-in on Cleveland affords you a high upside power stack that is actually quite reasonably priced. Cease on the season is giving up a massive .252 ISo to left-handed batters and the Indians will have a strong LH contingent in this projected lineup with guys like Lindor, Ramirez and Santana who all have .240+ ISO marks against right-handed pitching in 2019.

Going with the three lefties allows you to mix and match with the right-handed bats like Mercado, Reyes and Puig who provide a powerful six-man stack and while Cease’s splits versus RH are far better, if you are stacking the Indians you are doing so with the intention that they knock Cease out early and get into the bad White Sox bullpen.

I talk about the benefit of a six-man stack ad nauseam here at Picks and Pivots and you see it play out more often than not that the larger you build the stack the less the ownership concentration there is. People will load up on the big-name lefties here like Lindor, Ramirez and Santana so if/when they get you fantasy points, you are simply keeping pace with the field.

The way to differentiate and leap over those 2-3 man stacks, is to build up to 5-6 bats on FantasyDraft that allow you to correlate with that popular core but at a fraction of the ownership.

Be smart with this slate, single lineups only and GPP only – if you want to have one last hurrah, save it for Friday because this slate ain’t it homey.

See you back here on Friday for one final MLB DFS Picks and Pivots!
