Minnesota Twins: State Fair Foods
You have to give the fine people of Minneapolis a ton of credit for how well they endure their brutal winters and somehow come out every year with a smile on their faces. Minnesotans are a hearty bunch, as evidenced by their willingness to embrace outdoor baseball in April and October after years of climate-controlled action at the Metrodome. Target Field has earned the Twins high praise all around the league, and it is one of the top parks for fans in the league.
The Twins planned to leave the Metrodome for years, but Target Field was definitely worth the wait. It is a downtown classic, and one of the best pure urban ballparks to be built in a long time. Target Field is located right in the Warehouse District of Minneapolis and is hemmed in on all sides by highways, railroads and warehouses. Target Field is easily accessible by public transportation.
Target Plaza in right field is the place for fans to gather and watch the game. There are also statues honoring franchise legends like Rod Carew, Harmon Killebrew and Kirby Puckett. Fans can pose for pictures on a giant golden glove that honors every Twins player to win the Gold Glove. During the colder months of the year, there are fire pits set up for fans to sit around.
Minnesota is known for its simple, hearty foods, and the Twins make sure to offer plenty of affordable eats. The Minnesota State Fair is world famous, and there are stands dedicated to offering some of the Fair’s best items like deep-fried pickles, pork chops on a stick, cheese curds and corn dogs. You can also sample Minneapolis’s famous Jucy Lucy burger or some walleye and wild rice soup. There is a heavy emphasis on local food and drink at Target Field — with cheap prices to boot.
