Daily Fantasy Football: Wide Receiver Pivots

Sterling Shepard busted out last week in a big way with 9 catches for 100 yards and a touchdown. He showed some great rapport with new Giants quarterback Daniel Jones and while he’s not a super sneaky option, I am seeing his ownership lower than the Giants other big receiving threat, Evan Engram. With 16 targets in his first two games of the season, it’s clear the Giants are going to feature him in the passing game and this matchup against the Redskins secondary is one of the best on the slate.

The last guy I want to discuss here is Curtis Samuel, who had to be thrilled to be thrown some catchable passes by Kyle Allen last week instead of having balls thrown at his feet or over his head by Cam Newton. Samuel has five catches in each of his last two games, but consider that he was targeted 13 times in week two by Newton and 7 times last week by Allen. His catch rate is way up with Allen under center and he found the end zone last week for a score.

Last year, Allen targeted Samuel 17 times in his two games of action and he showed last week that he definitely likes throwing his way. Allen infused some much-needed balance into this Panthers offense and with the Houston defense being fairly stout against the run, the Panthers are going to have to pass the ball effectively in order to move the football this week.
