DFS Advice: Wide Receivers to Start

Marquez Valdes-Scantling (GB) vs. PHI

A lot of us thought that fellow wideout Geronimo Allison was going to be the second-biggest target in Green Bay’s offense after Davante Adams heading into 2019. Strangely enough, it’s Valdes-Scantling who is having a more successful season than Allison. So far, Valdes-Scantling is outpacing Allison in terms of snap shares (84.8% vs. 48.7%), route participation (78.5% vs. 54.%), targets (22 vs. 8), target shares (24.7% vs. 13.1%), and yards per target (7.7 vs. 3.0).

While the Eagles have a good run defense, the same can’t be said about their secondary. Up to this point in 2019, opposing receivers have been able to score the fourth-most fantasy points when going up against Philadelphia. Valdes-Scantling could very well be in store for a big game under the bright primetime lights of Thursday Night Football.

Terry McLaurin (WSH) @ NYG

Terry McLaurin continues to climb up the fantasy value ladder each and every week. He’s had three straight games with a touchdown reception and is averaging around eight targets per contest. McLaurin is standing out among a Washington receiving corps with not many other viable options for quarterback Case Keenum to go to. The Redskins may be getting into a slug-fest this Sunday against the Giants at MetLife Stadium. Neither team has good defenses, giving both sides plenty of opportunities to score. High-scoring affairs usually involve a ton of passing and that bodes extremely well for the rookie McLaurin. Expect another big day out of the receiver from Ohio State.

Demarcus Robinson (KC) @ DET

Over the course of the last two weeks, Robinson has become one of Patrick Mahomes’ favorite targets to go to with Tyreek Hill out. Robinson has been able to produce against lower-end secondaries such as the Raiders and Ravens. He will have another opportunity against a weaker defense in the Lions who have allowed 216.3 yards per game to opposing receivers. With Kansas City’s explosive quarterback Patrick Mahomes firing on all cylinders once again, Robinson could be in line for a healthy productive day in fantasy this week.

Honorable Mentions: Tyler Boyd @ PIT
